Famous Laksa @ Air Itam Market!

This is one not to be missed tourist place for some good local Penang food. Known as the Pasar Air Itam Laksa place, I reckon this is one of Penang most famous tourist spot for Asam Laksa.

With their business over 25 years, they are still maintaining the quality and the taste but price was increased over the years of course. :)

It used to be RM 2 per bowl of laksa many many years ago. Now you pay RM 2.70 per bowl. But I would like to inform food lovers who are particular about cleanliness and comfort, this is definitely not a place for you. Tables are set up by the corridor opposite the market and hence it is not very clean. LOL! :P

The uncle owner...

Next to the laksa shop, you can also opt for their famous penang snack, deep fried po piah and assorted fried stuff!

The crowd... Usually packed with food goers all day long...

We ordered a plate of freshly fried poh piah, some seafood tau foo and prawn crackers to kick start our meal...

Finally my all time favourite Asam Laksa with tons of fish! The main ingredients for assam laksa include shredded fish, normally kembung fish or mackerel, and finely sliced vegetables including cucumber, onions, red chillis, pineapple, lettuce, common mint, "daun kesum" (Vietnamese mint or laksa mint) and pink bunga kantan (ginger buds).

I can never get enough and I reckon the best Laksa is still in the land of Penang! :) Till then more FOOD soon... :) Enjoy the weekeds!
